Japanese Architecture - 30 days drawing

Hey! This is the first of the 30 day drawing challenge and will probably be the hardest one since it is difficult to get into, but it is done! I know I said I would post on Tuesday but I have been busy with work. Anyway, here is my first of 30 drawings:

For this page I really felt inspired by Japanese/Asian architecture. I loosely used reference photos from pinterest. I used fine liner pens for the buildings and for the flowers I used gouache. I decided to include the flowers because I felt like the page was looking a little dull and needed some colour. I also feel like they really filled the space nicely. Overall I am happy with this page and I feel like this has been perfect practice for drawing buildings.

Thank you for reading, see you tomorrow.

Summer 2018 Bucket List

Hey! So I am aware that it has been an extremely long time since I have last written a blog post. I have been super busy with GCSEs but now after a 3 week break since my last exam have decided to buckle down and get back into writing these blog posts. I thought to kick it off I would start with my summer bucket list. During my GCSEs I motivated myself by writing myself a bucket list for summer so here it is;

1. Improve my drawing skills.
Next year I am planning on doing A level art and I thought to give myself a head start I would draw lots over summer.
To complete this goal I am planning on doing a 30 day drawing challenge, I also thought that this would be a perfect opportunity to also get back into blogging so starting tomorrow I will be posting a new drawing everyday for 30 days, hopefully this will get myself into the routine of drawing everyday.

2. Get flexible.
This is a bit of a random one but I've always wanted to be super flexible so I thought now would be a good time.
To make this a more of a measurable goal, I will be trying to be doing the splits which will require me to stretch everyday and therefore improve my flexibility.

3. Learn guitar.
I am hugely into music and although I've had phases of learning instruments, I have never learned guitar which is the one instrument I am most enthusiastic about. I have an acoustic guitar so this is totally do-able.
I will teach myself all of the chords and I am going to set myself the goal of being able to play at least 3 songs.

4. Redecorate my garage.
Currently my garage is a huge mess, I would love to have a cool place to hang out with friends and have parties. I also believe that this is a great little project that I will thoroughly enjoy.
I plan to get new furniture from charity shops and spend as little money as possible. I will also post blog post on the transformation.

5.  Ride my horse more often.
I believe that this is a goal that I have already completed but once again this goal isn't very measurable, therefore me and my mum have decided to complete a marathon on the horses which will also require quite a bit of training and will also get the horses back into shape.

6. Run a 10k.
My mum happens to love running but personally I'm not a huge fan, but this is something I want to be able to enjoy. I have put myself down for a race in September and I am going to begin training ASAP even though the weather is boiling!

7. Get a job.
I have actually already completed this goal! I got my first job last week and I am super happy! I start Wednesday. I am working in a fish and chip shop (glamorous, I know) but it's a start. I plan to save a third of my savings each week for a car so that's also super exciting!

That's all of my goals and I will keep you updated on how they go. I am starting with drawing for 30 days and I will be starting tomorrow so I'll speak to you then!
Bye!

My Gym Routine

I work out 2-3 hours a day. Feels awesome!!!

Hey! As someone who only goes to the gym maybe 3 times a week this is just a simple routine to get some exercise in every so often. This is in no means a routine for a body builder or even someone who's drastically trying to lose weight, this is just to maintain my fitness. I am not a professional, this is just something I enjoy to do when I go to the gym. Anyway, here it is:

1. When I get into the gym I head straight to the bikes, I do this for 5 minutes at level 7 and 20 resistance. This is just to get warmed up, I take this time to de-tangling my earphones.

2. After this, it's time for stretching, I hold each stretch for about 10 seconds. This is to make sure you don't hurt yourself whilst working out!

3. Next it's time for the treadmill. I'm on the treadmill for 20 minutes at an elevation of 2. I try to put my speed up every so often but at the moment I run at about 8.8 km/h, but you can change this to whatever suits you.

4. When I'm finished with the treadmill I go onto the cross trainers. I stay on this for 10 minutes at an elevation of 5 (I think) and a resistance of 20.

5.FINALLY we are done with cardio and we get to go onto the fun stuff! So I go onto arms first and use the hammer strength machine (I've had to google the names). I do 15 reps then wait for 15 seconds and go again two more times. I have the weight for this one at 25lbs which is low but I struggle with this one.

6. Next I go onto a machine that I do not know the name of but it's similar to the one before however you sit facing the back of the seat and pull the bars towards you. I do the same amount of reps for all of the machine and I have this one set at 37.5lbs

7.Legs time! So First I go onto a machine where I sit on a seat put my legs under a bar and pull it up with my shins. I do this at 37.5lbs.

8. Next is a similar machine but i put my legs over the bar and push it down with my calves and I do this at 50lbs.

9. Finally, I do abs. I go onto the machine where I push down a bar with my chest and tense my abs at the same time, I do this at 62.5lbs.

10. Lastly, I go onto the hanging chair and do leg lifts.

This routine lasts just over an hour and this works perfectly for me.

4 Ways To Wear A Mesh Top

Hello! So as I've mentioned in my Highs and Lows of 80s Fashion post, mesh tops have been creeping slowly but surely more and more into my wardrobe. I thought that since I've been wearing them so often I should make a post on different ways you can wear them!

1. You can wear them underneath a strappy dress like this one.

Dress: Urban Outfitters
Mesh Top: Urban Outfitters
Shoes: Topshop

2. Probably the most wearable way, is to wear them underneath a T-Shirt.
T-shirt: Amazon
Mesh Top: Depop
Jeans: Topshop

3. You could go sporty and wear a sports bra underneath.

Sports Bralette: Calvin Klein
Mesh T-shirt: Topshop
Leggings: Nike

4. Finally, you could also keep it simple with a vest top underneath.
Vest top: New Look
 Mesh Top: Urban Outfitters
Jeans: Primark
Shoes: Doc Marten

Thank you for reading. All photos are my own. I hope you now know how to wear a mesh top and if you have anymore ways to wear them then comment down below.

Highs and Lows of 80s Fashion

Hello!
There is a lot of controversy with fashion from the 1980s. Personally, I liked the fashion (unfortunately, I was not there for it), however, not every trend should be allowed back in 2018.

Starting off with a high, mesh tops are something that have been creeping into my wardrobe in 2018. I think they look great underneath t-shirts, they really add that little bit extra.

The next thing is a low: Shoulder pads. Although small pads can give a bit of structure and be flattering, the style in the 1980s is over the top (like most things in that decade) and can look too much.

High: These jeans have made a huge affect on today's fashion choices, these are 'Mom' jeans. We thank the 80s for these comfortable yet flattering jeans that can make our bums look great!

Low: Unfortunately shell suits had to be mentioned. Don't get me wrong, the top half paired with some skinny jeans can look good and vintage but the whole thing is NOT my style.
Shell Suit...the material made swishing noises when you moved, lol!

High: So bomber jackets have had a huge breakthrough 2016 however it has died down now, I still believe that bomber jackets are definitely a need for your wardrobe.
Can't go wrong with a blue bomber jacket and navy jeans. All I need in life.<3

Low: Like the shell suits, this is something that had to be mentioned. Leg warmers. Thankfully these are only used for ice skating these days.

High: Despite the legwarmers I actually believe that scrunch socks are something that's not too bad. This is a trend that hasn't made a return, however, I feel like these will become more popular in the next coming years.

Low: This is something you've got to be careful about: Double denim. This trend has recently come back but can rarely be pulled off well (with the exception of Gigi Hadid). So unless you are a professional, please don't try this at home.

High: Turtle necks are something that has never really gone out of style and when styled right, a turtle neck can make you look extra classy.

All of these are just my opinion, as long as you feel comfortable and confident then you can pull of anything. These pictures are not mine.

How To Get Rid Of Things You Never Wear

Hey!
After Christmas at this time of year you probably have lots of new clothes and clutter in your (used to be) lovely and minimal room, I know that's what it's like for me! Therefore I thought this would be a perfect time to create a post like this as I know it will be helpful for both me and you!

Here are some tips and tricks on how to get rid and sort out those unwanted clothes:
 1.  My first tip would be to sort out your clothes into 2 piles. The first pile includes clothes that you have worn in the past month and the second pile is clothes you haven't worn in the past month. Hopefully this should pretty immediately narrow down your clothes.

 2. Next, if you haven't worn that piece of clothing in the past month due to these reasons then you should get rid of it:

  • That clothing item doesn't fit.
  • You dislike the item ( we all have one of those gifts).
  • The item of clothing is damaged or has a stain.
However, if the item fits in with any of these reasons then you may keep it:
  • You just haven't had the opportunity to wear this item in the past month.
  • It's been the wrong type of weather for the outfit but you know you will wear this item when the right season comes around again.
  • The item has been hidden away for the past few years behind all the clutter and you feel like you've been reunited with an old friend.
3. Once you've decided which items you would like to keep and which items you'd like to get rid of, you'll be left with a large pile of unwanted clothes and your room will be looking messier than how it started. Here are some ways to get rid of those clothes:
  • If the item is in good condition then I recommend selling these items on a website such as ebay or, my personal favourite, depop. Depop is a trustworthy website specific to selling clothes and accessories (https://www.depop.com/). You can also get some money from this too, which, in my case, would mean that I bought new clothes to fill the new organised space I had just sorted out.
  • If the item is possibly damaged or has a curry stain from that take-away you had last month then try and recycle those clothes but whatever you do make sure that throwing away those clothes is the last option (they may be ugly but not ugly enough to deserve being stuffed in a hole in the ground).
I really hope these tips have helped you declutter your room and organise your wardrobe and drawers.

Also, out of interest, comment below where you are from and whether you have been reading my blog so far.
Thank you!

Future Prom Dress

Amazing lavender lace off-the-shoulder fishtail dress from the 1970s. (From the Indie Cult Vintage shop on ebay, a really good seller.)

Hello!
My prom is coming up! Up until lately I've never made a huge deal of prom or even been very excited. We've officially been told the date and friends of mine are already finding their prom dress so I thought it was about time for me to think about mine.

So I did what I always do when I need inspiration... I went to pinterest. I knew I wanted something very bohemian and 70's. When I tried '70's prom dress' in the search bar the perfect dress turned up (look above). As soon as I saw this dress I loved it so much, it was everything I wanted. I was majorly disappointed when I couldn't find it for sale anywhere but I knew my mum had been talking about a friend of hers that actually makes custom dresses!

I've decided I like the style of the dress but because I have such pale skin and such dark hair a navy blue colour would work perfectly. I'm still debating the idea of silver detailing on the top half as well (let me know your thoughts!)

The accessories I've thought of to go with the boho theme would be large chunky heals (similar to the one in the photo) and big hippy style earrings. I'd definitely try to keep makeup to a minimum and hair being long wavy curls looking as natural as possible.

I will make sure to keep you updated with the process! Follow my blog with Bloglovin
